This year I fell in love with the look of trees with sparse branches. I had seen them on Instagram, at Pike Nurseries, and more. I looked all over the place and settled on a petite tree from Balsam Hill. The tree is beautiful and delivery was fantastic. I love that they send you gloves for fluffing! The only disappointment is the trunk as you move up the tree. It doesn’t look natural to me. Other than that, it’s a great tree.
As you know, Ryan and I collect a variety of ornaments from Hallmark. We’ve bought some of our favorite Disney & Pixar characters over the years. I really wanted to find a way to display those ornaments, and the new tree was the perfect solution.
I think it’s really cute! I admit, it needs more ornaments. We’ll just have to wait to see what Hallmark introduces next year to fill this tree.
I don’t have another tree to share just yet, but I can share decor. I took some photos of the decor in our living and dining room. Since we go all out on the trees and exterior, I keep the decor throughout the house pretty light. I say that, but we totally redecorate the two spare rooms for the holidays. So let me rephrase that, the living areas are simply and lightly decorated.
I love decorating this hutch each season. Several of the core pieces remain, but I mix it up with seasonal accents.
The living room also gets some holiday accents. One of my favorites is the Magnolia mailbox from Target. I actually think I’m going to turn this into an adorable letters to Santa station next year. Pretty stationary, Santa stamps, holiday inspired pencils…can you see it?
One of my favorite things to decorate with is lanterns. They are perfect for both the exterior and interior. I keep a lantern on the coffee table, and I mix it up seasonally. During the holidays, I add jingle bells.
It’s hard to see the bells in this picture, but I promise you they are in there. I’ll add some additional photos to Instagram, so be sure to check there too! The polar bear in the background is very special to us. We made it for our first cat, and she passed away a couple of years ago. I think of her when I see it. She used to love snuggling up to it.
So that’s a quick look at some of the decorating I’ve done this year. Be sure to check back next week for tree reveals and a look at the exterior. We might even have a special visitor from the North Pole. Until next time, I hope your holiday season is Merry & Bright!
